Living in Florida means we depend on our air conditioner most of the year. Over time or in those cases where the system has not been properly maintained, your unit can develop some issues that should be taken care of before they turn into major repairs. We at Johnny’s AC diagnose these problems and repair them. We will provide you with advice of whether there are other options to consider always keeping your needs in mind.

There are some things you can do yourself to help maintain your system. Here is a small list:

• Change air filters on a regular basis: This is by far the most common cause for repair service. By regularly changing the filters you can avoid any issues caused by clogged air filters and help maintain the life of your system.  We recommend a MERV 6 - 8 rated pleated filter.  Too thick of a filter will impact air flow.  If you have pets or your return is close to the floor or by an outside door, change it every 30 days.
• Leaking water/Blank thermostat: Usually a clogged condensate line is the cause of this. Your safety switches will turn off your system if the line is clogged.  We suggest you use white vinegar to clear the pipe. We don’t recommend Bleach because of its abrasive nature.
• Maintain your outside unit: Be sure to keep the area around your condenser clean.  The unit works by pulling air in - and it will pull in any debris around it as well!
